OAKGROVE HOLIDAY COTTAGE - THE SETTING
Find Us
Oakgrove self-catering cottage is located in a sparsely populated rural area (OS 162 grid ref 544 026) situated between the villages of Brockweir and St Briavels, each around a mile away. It benefits from its position bordering two beautiful areas of the Royal Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire and the Wye Valley in Monmouthshire, with their contrasting English and Welsh cultures. This undoubtedly offers a unique combination of spectacular scenery - thickly wooded valleys, carpeted with bluebells in Spring and glorious reds and golds in Autumn, and a host of natural wildlife throughout the year. |
 |
The area provides a haven for quiet recreation, whether on foot, bike or by car. From the comfort of the cottage lounge, looking through the patio windows across the garden surrounded by trees - pheasants, woodpeckers and other woodland birds can be observed as well as, rabbits, squirrels, foxes, deer and badgers. |
The area is blessed with wonderful walks - some directly from the cottage using the network of local footpaths and bridleways including Offa's Dyke, others taking circular tours along river valleys, through woodland, and sometimes passing a pub or two!
Local attractions include ancient castles and abbeys, craft shops, caves, museums, vineyards, steam railway, birds of prey centre, cycle tracks, canoeing, and much more.
